These Are Our Volunteer Teams

Click to learn more about each one. Note that some jobs can be done from home, some are on-site, and some may be a combination of both.

1. Cleaning Kit Team
Job done offsite in volunteer’s or church/organization’s personal space.

Using a prescribed list of items, source the items and assemble inside a laundry basket.

Maintain supply of at least 8 in the warehouse.
2. Kitchen Kit Team
The team is located in downtown Lafayette.

Using a prescribed list of items, assemble kits for 1 – 6 people using donated boxes.

Use an inventory system to label boxes.
3. Linen Team
Done offsite at volunteer’s homes. Storage is in a volunteer’s garage in Danville.

Sort through donated bedding to determine if suitable, whether it needs washing, and then size it and place it on the shelves.

Pick up donations other volunteers have received from the warehouse as needed.

Gather bedding for Client Requests, bag, tag and bring to warehouse.
4. Towel Team
Done offsite at volunteer’s homes. Stored at volunteer’s homes as needed.

Gather, wash and bundle towels into sets (1 bath, 1 hand, 1, wash).

Provide sets to the Cleaning Kit team as needed (each kit includes 2 sets).

Always maintain inventory of single sets in the warehouse.

Pick up donated towels from other volunteers at the warehouse as needed.
5. Delivery and Pick Up Team
Requires use of personal vehicles and gas.

Drivers and lifters receive a text each Friday to ask their availability for the coming week.

Go to warehouse and load items for each client – (we have lifters if needed).

Deliveries are made within Contra Costa County usually weekday mornings between 9-12.

Furniture pickups are generally within a 10 mile radius and are scheduled at the donor and drivers agreed upon time.
