About us

The Contra Costa Interfaith Coalition began in November 1992, when three neighborhood churches—St. Francis of Assisi, Evangelical Free Church (now North Creek), and St. John Vianney—looked beyond their own congregations to serve the broader community.

Together, they founded CCIC with a shared goal: to support those in need throughout Contra Costa County, starting by providing meals to residents at the county homeless shelter.

Since then, CCIC has grown to include twenty church communities and two additional organizations, all united in their mission to serve with compassion.

Everything we do is designed to meet the specific needs of the community and the individual families in need.  Together, as one, we rise to protect the most vulnerable and provide for those in need of basic necessities.

This foundation has a vision of creating a better community. People from all walks of life are welcome to join us, not only those affiliated with a religion.

Our Purpose

At Contra Costa Interfaith Coalition (CCIC), our impact is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and community. Since 1992, we’ve been a 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit, uniting people of diverse faiths and backgrounds to serve those in need across Contra Costa County. Through partnerships with local social service agencies, we provide essential household items and food assistance to individuals and families facing challenges such as homelessness, domestic violence, disability, and poverty. Our mission is to improve living conditions and quality of life, bringing hope and light to those navigating adversity.
